Three key points for hydraulic system maintenance

When oil enters the hydraulic system for operation, cleaning is the primary issue. Dirt and other impurities should be prevented from entering the system. As you already know, tiny particles can scratch valves, get stuck in pumps, block ports, and cause costly repairs.
How to keep the hydraulic system clean? There are three main points.
Keep the hydraulic oil clean.
Keep the system clean.
Keep the work area clean.
1) Keep hydraulic oil clean
Store the oil in a clean location and be careful when changing or adding oil. Only use a cleaning funnel equipped with a fine mesh filter to pour oil from the container into the tank. Of course, the oil you use must be of the type recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
2) Keep the system clean
Regularly replace oil and filters. Good hydraulic oil contains various additives that can prevent oil from deteriorating or clogging system components. However, these additives will lose their effectiveness after a period of time. Therefore, the oil should be replaced regularly to ensure that the additives are effective. Filters can only absorb a limited amount of dirt particles and other impurities from oil. Replace the filter according to the recommended cycle to keep the system clean.
Drain and refuel
Regularly draining the water and sediment from the oil tank is crucial for removing impurities from the oil, but it is also important to regularly empty the entire hydraulic system. This is the only reliable method to completely remove system impurities, oxidized hydraulic oil, and other harmful substances. Then, the recommended clean hydraulic oil should be refilled into the system.
wash
If the oil is completely contaminated, especially when the pump is damaged, the oil in the tank must be cleaned. Flow the oil through the oil cleaning device until the oil contamination indicator shows that the oil is in a satisfactory state.
3) Keep the work area clean
A) When refueling or refilling the fuel tank, ensure that the area around the filter cover is clean. Only clean oil and funnels or containers can be used. Do not bring dirt into the system - only clean oil is allowed.
B) When maintaining hydraulic systems, only clean plastic plugs can be used to seal the ends of pipelines.
C) When maintaining hydraulic components, the workbench must be absolutely clean. Check the condition of the tools used. They should also be very clean.
